Microwave-optical coupling via Rydberg excitons in cuprous oxide

نویسندگان

چکیده

We report exciton-mediated coupling between microwave and optical fields in cuprous oxide (${\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}\mathrm{O}$) at low temperatures. Rydberg excitonic states with principal quantum number up to $n=12$ were observed 4 $\mathrm{K}$ using both one-photon (absorption) two-photon (second harmonic generation) spectroscopy. Near resonance an state, the addition of a field significantly changed absorption line shape, added sidebands frequency coherent second harmonic. Both effects showed complex dependence on $n$ angular momentum $l$. All these features are semiquantitative agreement model based intraband electric dipole transitions exciton states. With simple antenna we already reach regime where (Rabi frequency) is comparable nonradiatively broadened linewidth excitons. The results provide additional way manipulate states, open possibility cryogenic transducer

Optomechanical Rydberg-atom excitation via dynamic Casimir-Polder coupling.

We study the optomechanical coupling of a oscillating effective mirror with a Rydberg atomic gas, mediated by the dynamical atom-mirror Casimir-Polder force. This coupling may produce a near-field resonant atomic excitation whose probability scales as ∝(d(2)an(4)t)(2)/z(0)(8), where z(0) is the average atom-surface distance, d the atomic dipole moment, a the mirror's effective oscillation ampli...

Synthesis of Cuprous Oxide by Thermal Treatment in Liquid Paraffin

Cu2O nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal treatment in liquid paraffin without any inert gas protection using nano structures of Schiff base copper (II) complex (1) as precursor. Liquid paraffin was used as solvent and reductant. Span 80 was applied to control the morphology of cuprous oxide nanoparticles. The nano structure of the complex was characterized by X-ray diffraction measurement...

Driving Rydberg-Rydberg transitions from a coplanar microwave waveguide.

The coherent interaction between ensembles of helium Rydberg atoms and microwave fields in the vicinity of a solid-state coplanar waveguide is reported. Rydberg-Rydberg transitions, at frequencies between 25 and 38 GHz, have been studied for states with principal quantum numbers in the range 30-35 by selective electric-field ionization. An experimental apparatus cooled to 100 K was used to redu...
